Alexey Kasprzhak, director of Artek, urged his colleagues to recognize that children’s projects should be taken out of the political framework: “We are building the future with children who will be adults tomorrow, who will build this world for us, a world without borders, a world without those restrictions and sanctions that exist today. It’s time to agree that children’s projects around the world lie outside of politics and political constraints. “
Recall that since 2014, Artek has accepted 3,163 children from 62 countries, and more than half of this number – 2,000 children (6% of the total Artek contingent) – this is the figure for 2017. The TOP-10 countries, whose representatives come to Artek more often than others, are Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, France, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Moldova, Mongolia, Serbia, USA.
A strategic project ensuring the international demand for “Artek”, in 2017, was the establishment in “Artek” of the institute of volunteer translators, which ensure the stay of children who do not speak Russian: 23 volunteer translators from English, Arabic, Greek, Spanish worked in the children’s center, Chinese, Mongolian, German, Serbian, French and Czech (implemented with the support of Artek’s partners – the Pushkin Institute of the Russian Language, the Artek Support Fund, and the Social and Cultural Initiatives Fund).
In 2017, long-term international partnerships were initiated – agreements on this were concluded with Artek both at the level of government agencies and at the level of educational institutions in various countries. 13 international agreements have already been signed with educational institutions of 10 states, including China, Switzerland, France, Serbia, USA, Denmark, Mongolia, Vietnam, Spain and Japan.
